Lucky...?!
There are people who, whenever they queue up at a line ( in the supermarket, bank, or other ) take the shortest line and find themselves in fact in the slower / slowest forthgoing line. This could be me, actually this happens quite often to me. Other example, i'll find myself at 3 am in the morning at Ben Gurion Airport / Tel Aviv for check-in. As usual, the security staff will take me out of the line for interviews and body check. But what happens to me ? It's a person ,who learning this job, starting questionning me, asking every few minutes advise to her supervisor next to us. So it takes double the time, which is a lot ( not only to me i guess ) at this hour of the day.
Last week a friend from Israel was telling me that there's a flight from Eilat to Haifa. During my upcoming holidays, i'll spend a few days in Eilat and then plan to go from there directly to Haifa. But it's planned on a friday, so at sundown shabbat starts and i won't get get any transportation after that. And i have to get from the very south up to the north. The bus from Eilat to Tel Aviv already takes five hours, and i'm not sure how much it'll take from Tel Aviv to Haifa.
Today, i checked the local airlines on the net ( Israir and Arkia ) about this. And Arkia offers a flight on friday morning. So after unsuccessful attemptives to book via the net ( the site doesn't seem to recognize foreign mastercards and id-numbers ) i decided to call in order to do the reservation.
Booking this single one-way flight took 22 minutes and 42 seconds. From my mobile phone. Long distance call.
Of course the nice girl at the other end of the line was obviously new in her job ...and learning, as she told me several times to hold the line because she had to see with the person in charge of her. Well, she was nice, and i was in a good mood, so i didn't get too excited about it. It seems, my flight has been booked, i have a reservation number and wait for the confirming email. Concerning the email though, i must admit that i'm not too confident, as the nice girl let me repeat my name, credit card number and passport number i don't know how many times...well, just have to wait and see. And keep staying patient !
